Rescuer gets into farm pond to save poisonous cobra in western India

A farmer in western India saw a cobra in his farm pond and called a snake rescuer to fish it out on July 12.
The venomous reptile had fallen into the water chasing a prey and was unable to slither up the smooth slope of the pond in Nuvadunge village in Ahmednagar district.
The farmer called Akash Jadhav and team of the Wildlife Rescue Society to rescue the snake.
Team member, Nawaz Shaikh, strapped himself to a harness and went down the pond. He managed to bring the cobra to safety with the help of a snake stick, which was later released in the wild.
“The snake was about five feet long and aggressive. It is now back in the forest, where it belongs,” said Akash.
