Police contacted over ‘threatening, abusive’ messages in wake of bird poisoning

Police have been contacted after “threatening and abusive” messages were posted on a West Auckland community Facebook group over poisoned birds found in the Waitākere Ranges. The birds, including a myna, pukeko and sparrow, were found by locals in the regional park in an unwell and distressed condition over the weekend. “Some of the birds had sadly died,” Auckland Council said.
