The horse found itself stranded around 1.5km from the shore
A horse that bolted into the water off Murvagh beach in Co Donegal was rescued by the RNLI yesterday.
The volunteer crew of Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat raced to the scene after a call was made to Malin Head Coast Guard by lifeguards on duty at the beach.
The horse was around 1.5km from the shore, but the crew managed to gradually coax it back to dry land where its anxious owner was waiting.

Helm Killian O’Kelly said: “This was another callout with a good outcome. Animals are as prone as people to get in trouble in the water and we were glad to be able to help out on this occasion.
“Remember if you see someone in difficulty on the coast call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.”
