Californa wildfires: SCU Lightning complex fire staff bracing for impacts Sunday night

PLEASANTON — At the Alameda County Fairgrounds, nearly a dozen representatives with multiple agencies came forward with many updates on the fires burning in the Bay Area, but one message: heed official warnings, and prepare to head out.
Jake Hess, Cal Fire Santa Clara Unit chief, took pains to describe not only the unprecedented nature of recent blazes, but the threat posed by expected weather conditions through Tuesday.
“This is an absolute marathon that we are embarking on,” Hess said. “We are going to need to be here for the long term, and set manageable paces. This is going to be a very long-term incident as we get through this.”
