Body of Nelson photographer found at Cape Farewell

The body found at Cape Farewell during the weekend was that of 52-year-old Nelson fine arts photographer Brett Allan Fleming. In a statement on Wednesday confirming the name, police extended their sympathies to Fleming’s family “during this difficult time”. Police received a call on Saturday afternoon reporting that personal items had been found on a clifftop track at Cape Farewell, the most northerly point of the South Island. The area was canvassed using a drone and a man’s body was found “some way down the cliff”. Police said at the time that the discovery of Fleming’s body was not connected to the search for trampers Jess O’Connor and Dion Reynolds, who have not been seen since entering the Anatori Valley on May 9.
